Saturday Mavis came to play and the girls had lots of fun. They played ring around the rosy, pushed their babies in strollers, and mixed all the playdoh together. Zoey was so sad when it was time to go to bed. She cried, "Mavis, Mavis" and even woke up the next morning asking for cousin! Here are some pics of our fun day!

Our Long Week
Thankfully we have survived the Flood of '09 with no damage to our house. We woke up around 2am Monday morning to the worst storm I have ever heard. There was lots of rain, loud thunder, and lightening. Even with the intensity of the storm, I never would have imagined there would be so much flooding. At 7am I received a phone call from my opening teacher at the daycare that we had flooding. I got there quickly and found the playground full of water that had risen and flowed into the Infant and 1 year old rooms through their playground doors. It was a mess! Luckily we have a church member that is an insurance adjuster and he called a restoration company. By 2pm all the carpet was ripped up and fans were drying everything out. We finally opened again today but we will have to keep the Infant and 1 year old rooms closed until they are completely dry and we can replace the carpet. Parents were very understanding and so nice about overlooking the loud fans, combined classes, and messy playground. It's only Wednesday but I feel like it should be time for the weekend! I am so thankful that we only had damage in 2 rooms and not the whole daycare. It could have been so much worse.
Zoey loves to put on my shoes so I snapped a few pics today to post. It's so cute to watch her walk around in my heels. I have to be quick to get any pics of her these days. She won't stop for a minute. She's such a priss!

Life at 21 months
Zoey Claire is so fun right now! She comes up with so many cute things each day that I can't keep track of it all. Here's what she is doing this month:
-still weighs 22 lbs
-is a very picky eater. she likes yogurt, bananas, raisins, chicken nuggets and cinnamon bread most of all. she likes turkey some days, hot dogs with ketchup some days, but still no veggies!
-cute words she is saying: uffins(muffins),bwankkkkie(blankie-it's very drawn out and southern), and she adds "s" to end of words that don't need it-Grans, chins, milks
-is saying sentences. she was lying in bed with me on saturday and said "time to get up".
-loves to play with her baby most of all. still loves books and music.
-only sits to watch baby noah which she calls animals and baby van gogh which she calls colors.
3 more months until 2! It's time to start party planning!

The Flu
It's been an interesting weekend for us. Joe has the flu! The dr. wouldn't say if it was swine flu or not but he treated him for it anyway. He's been in bed all weekend so Zoey and I have been having lots of girl time. We made Daddy a card, went shopping, and played with her baby. That is her new favorite thing. We feed the baby, put it in the stroller, and put the baby night night. It's so adorable! Zoey worked very hard yesterday to put her shoes on the baby. She got so frustrated that they were not staying on the baby's feet. There is just no way to explain to a one year old that her shoes are too big for a baby! It was very sweet and we are thankful Daddy is feeling better.

These shoes are perfect!

I know they will fit.

Looking good!

I'll take the blue marker now.

Labor Day Weekend
Thank goodness for long weekends! We had so much fun at the lake with our friends Brian, Heather, and their little one, Isaiah. We all made the drive on Saturday morning and arrived just in time to put the babies down for naps. Heather and I soaked up some sun and the boys took the boat out. Zoey and Isaiah enjoyed playing with each other. We had lots of good food and good conversation. Can't wait for the next trip!

Haircut Time
We are so lucky to have Aunt Hannah in the family for many, many reasons but one of them is that she cuts hair! Friday it was time for Zoey's first real haircut. Hannah has trimmed it a tiny bit before but this time we went to the salon and had a proper cut. The first thing Zoey said when she walked in the door was "This is cute". Too funny! She did so well sitting in Joe's lap and looking at pictures of Mavis to distract her. In the end her shorter waves looked so adorable and Mommy even got a cut too. We wouldn't look so good without our Hannah!

Daddy I'm not so sure about this.

What is Aunt Hannah doing back there?

Ready to be snipped

Am I doing ok Daddy?

The "After" shot

Aunt Hannah sure knows how to make a girl look cute!
