Just like Mommy!

Zoey wants to do everything just like Mommy! If I wear a shirt & pants for pj's, she wants to wear that too. If I put my robe on, she puts hers on too. After school today we went to the auto shop to get the emissions test done on my car. Zoey & I were both sitting in chairs and I look over at her and she is crossing her legs sitting just like me. I pretended not to look & she real quietly says "Mommy, look" while pointing to her legs. Then she said "I'm just like you"! My heart melted a little bit and then I started praying! I hope she always wants to be like me & that I can be an example of a great woman to her.

Fever Time

Well this week has already taken a toll on us and it's only Tuesday! Zoey started with a fever Sunday afternoon. She said her throat hurt so we just watched movies and she went to bed early. Around 11pm she woke up crying and burning up. I moved her to the couch with me and she woke up every hour crying. At 6am I took her temp and it was 103. By this point I was convinced she has strep throat. We headed to the dr first thing and he concluded...nothing! No strep, no prescription, no diagnosis. He just said to give her Popsicles & come back Thursday if she still had fever. Today she broke out in a rash so I have self diagnosed her with roseola. I am really hoping for a good night of sleep for all of us. I don't like having a sick baby girl!

Back to the Future...or the 80's!

Joe and I went to an 80's party tonight. I was not sure how I was going to pull off an 80's maternity outfit, but thankfully a young girl at work had a closet full of options. She hooked me up with a good dress and I just accesorized with fluorescent orange earrings, leg warmers, and some bangles! Joe went with a purple graffiti shirt and some totally rad hair! We looked good but couldn't compete with Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, & White Snake's lead singer! It was a super fun night and I wish I had more pictures.

20 weeks

This pregnancy is flying by! I can't believe I am half way done. We got to see baby boy last Thursday at my 20 week ultrasound. He moved around some and kicked a few times. Zoey moved all the time so he definitely seems less active than her. He mostly kicks when I eat chocolate. Ha! He will be here before we know it.
A few things about this pregnancy:
Gender: boy
Name: Jude Everett
Jude means to be praised
Everett means brave and hardy
Cravings: none
Morning sickness: definitely! I just started feeling better in the last 2 weeks.
Differences from 1st pregnancy: lots of heartburn/indigestion(my biggest clue that it might be a boy), started showing at 10 weeks, breakouts, more tired, less active baby
Similarities to 1st pregnancy: morning sickness that lasted all day & way past 12 weeks!
Kicks: I felt flutters around 14 weeks and kicks by 16 weeks. The kicking has increased in the week.
Sweet moment: Zoey gives me one almost every day. She loves to tell people that Mommy has a baby in her belly & that she will be a big sister in May everywhere we go! She will randomly walk up & rub my belly. She also talks about taking care of baby brother all the time. She can't wait to meet brother!

Tiny Dancer

Zoey loves ballet! She gets to attend every Wednesday at school. Ms. Brooke is such a good teacher. It is important to her that the girls not only learn the technique but that they also learn the ballet terms as well. Thank goodness I got to schedule the recital around baby boy's arrival. I would be devastated if I missed Zoey's first recital. I don't think there is any chance of baby boy coming May 11!

Looking back at 2011

Since I literally wrote one blog post in 2011 on it was on Dec. 28th I wanted recap what our year was like. Here are the highlights from the past year.
January: We got the biggest snow and ice storm Atlanta has seen in years! The snow started late on a Sunday night. Joe and I were excited because we knew we would have the day off of work. We woke up Zoey and she sleepily looked at the snow. Little did we know the snow would quickly be covered with ice and we would have a week off of work! We loved every minute of our unexpected family time by watching movies, having hot chocolate, playing in the snow, and sitting by the fire.
February: I turned 31 and had a great birthday! My parents came up for the weekend and instead of having a family dinner they decided to keep Zoey and let us go out with our friends to celebrate. I picked my favorite spot, Flip Burger Boutique. My mushroom/swiss burger, nutella milkshake, and fried pickles were to die for. Happy birthday to me!
March: March is one of my favorite months because it means Women's Conference. Kari, Christie, Rebecca, Hannah and I all had a girl's week at conference. Unfortunately I got the stomach bug one of the days and ended up at home in the bed all day. After it passed we had a great time. I always love having all my sisters in town for some girl time. I also got my ipad. The only piece of technology that I have ever requested!
April: Joe turned 31! I surprised him with a night away at the W Hotel. It was so much fun to get away and spend a night together. We had a great time. I am always grateful for the day my hubby was born. Even though I didn't know him until 20 years later I can't imagine where I would be without him. He is the best husband and father.
May: We celebrated our 8 year anniversary! Since the actual day of our anniversary always falls on a weekday we have a tradition of celebrating with Zoey. We usually dress up and have a candlelight dinner with her. It makes the day feel really special since we aren't usually able to go out on the week night to celebrate.
June: Summertime! Summertime always starts with a trip to the lake. We spent Memorial Day weekend at the lake. Later in June Zoey got to stay with Gran and Grandaddy for a week. She went to VBS, had swim lessons, and played with Mavis.
July: We went on our family vacation to Ormond Beach. We got a great deal on a hotel and took off to FL to spend 4 days at the beach. Zoey got croup while we were there but it didn't stop her from swimming and playing on the beach. She loved playing in the sand! We also had a visit from Grammie, Poppa, and Uncle Kevin right before we started back to school. We love having them visit.
August: Back to School! Zoey added lots of new friends to her class this year. She welcomed Darby, Kerrington, and Cassie. She has great teachers and has learned to write her name.
September: We had a family reunion! Aunt Sandra invited everyone to her condo at Amelia Island. It was so nice to have all the family together. We loved getting to spend time with little cousin Charlie. The beach was gorgeous. We hope to make it an annual event. We also found out we were expecting Baby #2 on this trip!
October: We got to see baby #2 for the first time. What a little tiny bean but I was so thankful to see a strong heartbeat and know for sure that we were going to become parents again. Zoey was so excited to find out she was a big sister. She announced it to everyone!
November: We went to the happiest place on Earth...Disney World! We celebrated Zoey's birthday early by taking her to Disney. It was the best vacation ever. We spent 5 days going to all the parks. The best part was seeing Zoey at the princess dinner. She was amazed that she was eating with the "real" princesses. It was so special to take her to such a magical place.
December: It's a boy! Joe was beside himself as the ultrasound tech announced that baby was a boy! We are thrilled to be welcoming a little boy to our family. I'm going to have to get used to blue stuff, airplanes, army men, superheros, etc. but I can't wait. Zoey also turned 4. She says she is an adult now but she is still so sweet and innocent. We celebrated by going to the Nutcracker. She enjoyed watching the ballet but it was extra special that she got to meet the ballerinas after the performance. Grammie, Poppa, and Uncle Kevin joined us here for Christmas. We had a blast watching movies, cooking, and relaxing. What a great year 2011 was!

Happy New Year!

I really can't believe it is 2012! Joe & I were saying that Y2K does not seem like it was 12 years ago. I guess we are getting old!
I am really looking forward to this year. We know we have one exciting event happening in May. We will be having McBaby #2! We are even more excited to announce that it is a boy. Zoey is going to be such a sweet big sister. I'll have to do a post just on the pregnancy.
Zoey is with her cousins at Gran & Grandaddy's this week so I don't have any cute pics of her to share. I am hoping to write at least one post a week even if it is short. It's my new year's resolution. Ok it's not really but I am still going to try hard as if it is!
