Since I literally wrote one blog post in 2011 on it was on Dec. 28th I wanted recap what our year was like. Here are the highlights from the past year.
January: We got the biggest snow and ice storm Atlanta has seen in years! The snow started late on a Sunday night. Joe and I were excited because we knew we would have the day off of work. We woke up Zoey and she sleepily looked at the snow. Little did we know the snow would quickly be covered with ice and we would have a week off of work! We loved every minute of our unexpected family time by watching movies, having hot chocolate, playing in the snow, and sitting by the fire.
February: I turned 31 and had a great birthday! My parents came up for the weekend and instead of having a family dinner they decided to keep Zoey and let us go out with our friends to celebrate. I picked my favorite spot, Flip Burger Boutique. My mushroom/swiss burger, nutella milkshake, and fried pickles were to die for. Happy birthday to me!
March: March is one of my favorite months because it means Women's Conference. Kari, Christie, Rebecca, Hannah and I all had a girl's week at conference. Unfortunately I got the stomach bug one of the days and ended up at home in the bed all day. After it passed we had a great time. I always love having all my sisters in town for some girl time. I also got my ipad. The only piece of technology that I have ever requested!
April: Joe turned 31! I surprised him with a night away at the W Hotel. It was so much fun to get away and spend a night together. We had a great time. I am always grateful for the day my hubby was born. Even though I didn't know him until 20 years later I can't imagine where I would be without him. He is the best husband and father.
May: We celebrated our 8 year anniversary! Since the actual day of our anniversary always falls on a weekday we have a tradition of celebrating with Zoey. We usually dress up and have a candlelight dinner with her. It makes the day feel really special since we aren't usually able to go out on the week night to celebrate.
June: Summertime! Summertime always starts with a trip to the lake. We spent Memorial Day weekend at the lake. Later in June Zoey got to stay with Gran and Grandaddy for a week. She went to VBS, had swim lessons, and played with Mavis.
July: We went on our family vacation to Ormond Beach. We got a great deal on a hotel and took off to FL to spend 4 days at the beach. Zoey got croup while we were there but it didn't stop her from swimming and playing on the beach. She loved playing in the sand! We also had a visit from Grammie, Poppa, and Uncle Kevin right before we started back to school. We love having them visit.
August: Back to School! Zoey added lots of new friends to her class this year. She welcomed Darby, Kerrington, and Cassie. She has great teachers and has learned to write her name.
September: We had a family reunion! Aunt Sandra invited everyone to her condo at Amelia Island. It was so nice to have all the family together. We loved getting to spend time with little cousin Charlie. The beach was gorgeous. We hope to make it an annual event. We also found out we were expecting Baby #2 on this trip!
October: We got to see baby #2 for the first time. What a little tiny bean but I was so thankful to see a strong heartbeat and know for sure that we were going to become parents again. Zoey was so excited to find out she was a big sister. She announced it to everyone!
November: We went to the happiest place on Earth...Disney World! We celebrated Zoey's birthday early by taking her to Disney. It was the best vacation ever. We spent 5 days going to all the parks. The best part was seeing Zoey at the princess dinner. She was amazed that she was eating with the "real" princesses. It was so special to take her to such a magical place.
December: It's a boy! Joe was beside himself as the ultrasound tech announced that baby was a boy! We are thrilled to be welcoming a little boy to our family. I'm going to have to get used to blue stuff, airplanes, army men, superheros, etc. but I can't wait. Zoey also turned 4. She says she is an adult now but she is still so sweet and innocent. We celebrated by going to the Nutcracker. She enjoyed watching the ballet but it was extra special that she got to meet the ballerinas after the performance. Grammie, Poppa, and Uncle Kevin joined us here for Christmas. We had a blast watching movies, cooking, and relaxing. What a great year 2011 was!
